IT CONSULTING COMPANY DONATES FREE TRAINING TO DOTCOM CASUALTIES - ALONG WITH SOME TIPS ON GETTING BACK TO WORK

Arlington, TX - Handheld Software, Inc. is donating 1 seat at each of its April and May 2001 Java and Enterprise JavaBean trainings to a dotcom casualty or someone affected by recent layoffs.

"These people, who were willing to take risks, to stick through the emotional roller coaster ride of working at a startup deserve something back. They changed the way we look at everything, the IT and business landscape has changed forever because of these risk-takers!" says Jason Bedunah, founder of Handheld Software, Inc.

Jason Bedunah joined Questia Media, Inc. (http://www.questia.com), a startup based in Houston, TX as the 4th employee. He left in December 2000 to start Handheld Software, Inc. While Questia appears to be doing fine, others like eToys and now Buy.com seem to be on their way down and well-established companies like Motorola, Disney and 3Com are laying off hundreds.

The training focuses on mastering marketable skills like JavaTM and J2EE technologies. "J2EE technology comprises 90% of the Application Server Market, it makes sense to invest in it as a skill since the need for it will outlast any downturn," Bedunah continued. The training goes even further by teaching accelerated learning skills that you can apply to any other subject, technology-related or not.

In addition to retraining, Bedunah suggests putting the right angle on your recent misfortune. "Though your last position at a start-up has lost some of its luster, you can stress the fact that since you worked for a start-up you know how to work quickly, efficiently and with little oversight. You’re a self-starter and can work well under extreme conditions."

Recent casualties can claim their spot by emailing Jason Bedunah at jason.bedunah@xmldevelopers.com and supplying enough information to verify their claims.

A more in-depth description of the trainings can be found at http://www.xmldevelopers.com.
